Minutes of Class Meeting July 7, 2007

1)      Attendance: Jalapeno, Toy Box, Hot Chocolate, Rambunctious

2)      Dispense with reading of minutes of last meeting.

3)      Dues: have not been collected since 2005, both local and National.

Budget for 2007 and 2008 will be determined after research of Fleet needs have been determined. National dues are $50 annually.

4)      Officers to be elected: ten days are required from notification of election.

Three offices and a number of committees will be decided.

Captain, Vice Captain, Treasurer, committees will be measurer, social, race, advertising.

5)      Donation of past treasury balance given to National Fleet will be attempted to be retrieved, $800. Dave Erwin is believed to be national fleet treasurer, and will be contacted in order to retrieve our donation since the fleet is reorganized.

6)      Races: We have enough boats to constitute our own class in the major races in our area. This would allow us to one design race in LPRC, Sugar Bowl and other races with out having a separate committee boat and protest judges. Another option would be to have a 138 rating class.

Mid Winters is the only race where we feel we would like our own separate regatta.

Pontchatrain Yacht Club, is the home five of the eight J30s and has been discussed that we work closely with Billy Ross( PYC One Design Chairman).

7)      Fleet Flags, most boats have them, and the others will be getting their own. Class shirts are a strong belief that would help generate interest and excitement in the Class.

8)      Trophies have been decided to be made by class members to keep cost down.

9)      Class participation is believed to be seven out of eight boats will be active at most one design races.

      10)  Bastille Day Regatta will be our official First One Design Regatta of 2007. Sail restrictions have been lifted for an unspecified time, to give new and old members a chance to become class legal again. All sails purchased from January 1 2008 must be class legal so everyone can be class legal January 1, 2009.

11)  Social gathers have been determined to be added to our agenda:

Madisonville Rafting and Bayou LaCombe Rafting, one in spring and one in the fall, dates to be agreed upon soon.

12)  Next meeting will be in 30 days, August 4, location to be determined.
